Consonants

There are twenty-three consonants in the Versling alphabet.

Each of the images below includes a letter or letters from the Latin alphabet. The Latin letters are there for instructional purposes only and do not need to be included when drawing these phonemes.

The First Consonant

The first consonant evolved as a way to connect the Vowels and provide a sound that signifies the end of the idea being conveyed.

The sound of the letter, “N.” It symbolizes connections and endings.

 


The Primary Set

Each phoneme in the primary set of consonants is linked to a single mode of spirit: Spirit Without or Spirit Within, and one of the primary elements: Consciousness, Flow or Matter.


The sound of the letters, “TH” in the word, “faith.” It symbolizes the association between the Spirit Without and Consciousness.


The sound of the letter, “T.” It symbolizes the association between the Spirit Without and Matter.


The sound of the letter, “D.” It symbolizes the association between the Spirit Within and Matter.


The sound of the letters, “TH” in the word, “the.” It symbolizes the association between the Spirit Within and Consciousness.


The sound of the letters, “CH” in the word, “cherry.” It symbolizes the association between the Spirit Without and Flow.


The sound of the letter, “J.” It symbolizes the association between the Spirit Within and Flow.


The Emergent Set

Visually, the emergent set of consonants is derived from the primary and carry symbolism relating to the Emergent Elements.

The sound of the letter, “M.” It symbolizes the association between the Element of Earth and the Weak Force.


The sound of the letter, “R.” It symbolizes the association between the Element of Earth and Electromagnetism.


The sound of the letters, “NG” in the word, “sing.” It symbolizes the association between the Element of Earth and the Force of Gravity.


The sound of the letter, “L.” It symbolizes the association between the Element of Earth and the Strong Force.


The sound of the letter, “P.” It symbolizes the association between the Element of Water and the Weak Force.
